On September 30, 2023, California enacted SB 553, the first general industry workplace violence prevention safety requirements in the United States that will be applicable to nearly all California employers, with very few exceptions. The law also amends California Code of Civil Procedure section 527.8, which provides the ability to seek restraining orders to prevent workplace violence.
