Introduction to Acrylic Painting

This five-week class will introduce and reinforce the many techniques used for painting with acrylics as a new medium for the artist. Students will learn canvas preparation, mixing paint with a pallet knife, layering, uses of different types of brushes, and the use of a finish medium. Students will create their weekly paintings from their favorite photographs.

All student materials will be purchased the week before class by the instructor.

Students must inform GCSD at registration time, if they do not need any or some of the listed materials (the costliest item is the easel, but is essential).

The following materials are required and will be provided for each student at a cost of $80.00 payable to the instructor on the first day of class:

  • 5 – 11×14” canvases
  • Beechwood art 25” table easel
  • Assortment of brushes
  • A set of pallet knives
  • Blending sponge
